About Korby Audio Technologies

Korby Audio Technologies is a company founded on the principles of the physical sciences integrated with artistic exploration. Our microphones are designed and built in our state-of-the-art laboratory from start to finish - from film to backplate to amplifier.

A little history to validate our quality of work: Tracy Korby started as a recording engineer for the BSO, during which time he was asked to move to Los Angeles and work for Stephen Paul Audio, the vintage microphone restoration pioneer. At Stephen Paul Audio, Tracy was repairing and restoring some of the most valuable, sought-after classic microphones used by the world's top recording industry producers, engineers, and studios.

After working on and analyzing hundreds of vintage microphones, Tracy heard vast differences in seemingly identical capsule designs. Tracy got the idea to start with the best aspects of the classic capsule designs and present new designs to the recording industry.

In these designs, each stage has to be tightly controlled, and tolerances have to be exacting. This precision requires each part of each microphone to be built by hand. This philosophy is the heart and soul of Korby Audio Technologies.

In 2005, at the invitation of John McBride of Blackbird Studios, Korby Audio Technologies moved their operation to a new custom-built Nashville facility. Being housed within one of Music City's premiere recording complexes provides a proving ground like no other.

Korby Audio Technologies has now settled near Athens, Georgia.  Tracy has returned to his loves of restoring vintage microphones and designing new products for Korby Audio Technologies.  Quality products and service are our top priorities.  We are dedicated to bringing Tracy's innovative visions to fruition and continuing the attention to detail and hand-crafted perfection that the company has built it's reputation upon.
